  • 2:30 a.m.
    Downtown.
    17 year old girl.

Anyone else see something wrong with that picture?

    • Yep. The libs say it takes a village to raise a child. In this case it takes a village of idiots with their shoot-em-up block parties to allow this stupidity.

  • On day it will happen to some “important”; a local celebrity, Gator athlete, city commissioner or family member of. Then it will become an issue. First step needed to zero ROR or low bail for gun crimes. If an ROR or low bail is issued make sure the offender has the address of the judge that issued.

    • Nobody who is a “local celebrity, Gator athlete, city commissioner or family member,” is actually more “important” than your average lounge lizard.

      • That was not his point, his point was that when “a local celebrity, Gator athlete, city commissioner or family member” is attacked that then it will become an issue.” Which is the truth. If one of the commissioners kids had been the one shot there would be much more outrage and publicity. He was saying was that placing more value on these people than we “ordinary” citizens is wrong.

    • no one is more important than another. All criminal violence is wrong.

but you are right. those who harm the innocent, commit forcible felony’s should not be turned back out in the streets to offend again.

  • I can’t believe some of these comments! There was no block party. Like one person said when it happens to a prominent figure then y’all won’t talk all this non sense! We need to worry about the gun violence happening in Gainesville! It’s getting worse every year. I’m not against guns but we need to do better!

    • It starts with the politicians’ attitudes, then law enforcement, prosecutors and then judges, to fully enforce the violence and gun laws already on the books. The woke, go easy on crime, DEI and such HAS TO STOP!

      • Blue states have lower crime rates than red ones and DEI has nothing to do with crime rates. Or do you want to throw flouride in the water on top of your ignorant rant?

        • Blue stars choose not to enforce laws, genius! Those of us paying attention know California degenerates allowed trash to steal up to $900.00 a day without being prosecuted and that is just 1 example!
Also. Your stupid claim is number manipulation via “per capita” bs… more people are murdered in California than any other state. Family members burying loved ones do not care about your manipulation bull💩!

  • This is why it makes me nervous even to go to church where it is located, in town — you NEVER KNOW with the lax gun laws–is that right, Repugnants????????

    • You mean irresponsible parenting.

You should go to church where local leadership go. I’m sure they have protective measures. They do a great job of keeping the homeless away from City Hall.

    • Concerned Citizen, the gun laws ARE NOT LAX. It is the Democrat Party enforcement of them that is the problem.

      • Our gun laws are the most lax of anywere in the developed world and our incarceration level exceeds everyone’s including China’s, yet we have by far the highest rate of gun deaths in the world and it is the leading cause of death for our kids.

You have to be a special kind of deaf, dumb, and blind to not understand that our problem is too many guns, and so cheap as a result that teenagers on bikes ride around with them.

          • That is not ignorant that is fact. You have no relationship with the truth, obviously. I would trade ten of you for one illegal with a drug charge. That one would work harder than you and your whole useless family would together.

    • repugnants? what ever you say Adolph libtard. let us ban spoons for obesity, cars for drunk drivers. we blame no other object other than guns. the real issue is they want control, they want a defenseless people, they want to take the second to bring down them all. And the weak minded leftists buy their BS. All gun laws are unconstitutional thus null and void. any law repugnant to the Constitution is null and void Mulberry versus Madison 1803. Guns are the reason you have the right to run your trap. otherwise praying in silence gets you jailed like in the UK. less guns always = more crime. get over it, guns are never going away, but the gun laws are.

      • By your reasoning Daniel, fentanyl isn’t a problem, people are, and so it’s pointless to try and regulate it.

As to your legal opinion, it took about 230 years for the right wing SC judges to find an “originalist” argument to deny that the 2nd A required a militia to be in effect. Don’t worry – when the court finally returns to being in sync with Americans, who until the black one got to nominate these judges, Heller will be overturned and ammosexuals like you will have to start denouncing the court again.

Hey, you been called up for militia duty lately? Me neither, nor has anyone since the Revolutionary War when Washington denounced them as undiscipled and worthless.

          • Taco John from Austin needs to visit Alligator Auschwitz and maybe he won’t think of his miserable country and its rapists as “great citizens”. You are on the losing team, traitor. Any illegal is more human being than you and your lying dictator.

  • In the name of Jesus we come to You father God asking for your will to be done, heal, cure, guide the doctors and nurses and staff in that hospital to watch over Your child Lord, in Jesus name Amen

  • You people are insane. I started UF when I was 17. High likelihood that at that time in my life I would have been downtown late night on a holiday weekend.

It appears this young person did nothing wrong but be in a place at the wrong time.

The only person that should be shamed or has responsibility is the one with a gun that decided to fire it.

      • We don’t know all of the facts yet, but I can say when I was 17-18 I went places with friends to have fun, and sometimes when I shouldn’t have. My parents weren’t to blame I was, but I wasn’t trying to get into any trouble and I didn’t. However kids are kids. I don’t think she deserved what she got just for being out. I’m 66 years old now, and I’ve been a good person all of my life, just saying no she shouldn’t of been out at that time of hour, but kids do stupid things just like I did nearly 50 years ago. “There but for the grace of God go I.”
Again let’s wait and see what happened before we blame anyone. Thank you.

    • Not disagreeing with your conclusion about her not doing anything wrong, but you summed it up – she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Rarely does anything good come of a 17 year old girl, or boy, being out at 2:30 a.m.
      That’s the point.

By the way, I’ve been in Alachua County most my life. I was never downtown, midtown or uptown at 2:30 in the morning. I guess I was boring.

  • To those saying it wasn’t a “block party” ok here let me tell you what It was. A bunch of animals walking around strapped that think they are Gangstaz like they see in the rap videos and other trash they watch and yes, I can almost guarantee with a 99.9% certainty the shooter is black. Every time you turn on the news and there has been a shooting, what do you see, some little black thug blasting into a crowd. Ghetto hood rats want to blame everyone and everything else including the gun, when in reality it is their own fault. Even Alachua County government ignores the problem with their ridiculous stop the violence programs implicating guns and everything else. They know what the problem really is, they just won’t eat their own.

There, does that summarize it better.

As for the remarks about others (meaning a certain class, read whites, also known as privileged to some) being better protected well if a group doesn’t act like animals maybe they do not need better protection.

I blame not only the kids that act like this but their so called “parents” who are not really parents to begin with. They certainly did not raise these kids; they were brought into the world so their baby mama could get more government money, and their baby daddy, who I can assure you is not in the picture IF she even knows who he is and is not in jail himself.

Is what I said harsh, sure it is, but that is the problem, no one wants to really accept the cause for events like this, they just want to pass the buck, stick their hand out and blame everything and say they need more help. People are sick of it

    • Way to tell it like it is. Libs just don’t want to admit it’s true and all their lefty welfare subsidies allowed this situation to occur….at OUR expense! Treasonist!

      • You people are the ones becoming homeless, the paler they are, the more they freeload and accuse and think they are better than everyone when you are the scum of the earth. You probably can’t get within 1000 feet from a school, right pedo?

    • “Reality” isn’t what you imagine it to be but what actually happened. You have no insight on those facts, nor do any of us.

As to trends toward violence, poverty and race both contribute to higher levels, with the latter related to a culture of violence which goes back over 100 years and is not a creation of social programs intended to mitigate past – and present – discrimination. Given that middle class blacks – who existed only in very small numbers prior to the CR Act of ’64 and the beginning of the partially successful War on Poverty – do not share this violent culture or end up in jail or dead, race is the changeable part of this. Poverty is as well when there is a path away from it. In fact, most blacks are hard working, in school, and not in jail as your stereotype alleges.

If you don’t like paying taxes which partly are designed to open more doors, maybe our ancestors should have thought of that before enslaving blacks to do their work, and breaking apart their families by selling Dad off at the town market. 400 years of this horror, which was really only ended legally 60 years ago, doesn’t just stop and everything is good. No, we’re not good, Biff. Leroy over here hasn’t had a male role model he can remember who wasn’t in jail half the time, and falling behind in school, sees his future as a rapper and gangster, or petty thief like the guys hanging at the Circle K. He’s got a cousin who’s an IT guy in the big city, but too late and now too far away to influemce. Leroy can ride his bike to the Circle K.

  • I bet the gun was stolen. We need to outlaw stealing.
    ACLUSPLCDNC 🤡👹👿💩👺

  • It’s the parenting. I watch my neighbor lock her kids outside no more than elementary age as little at a toddler in a pamper. As soon as she gets home. Only unlocks once they cause enough commotion to draw unwanted attention then hits them like they did something wrong on the way in. That’s the problem. People like that let their 17 year old daughter stray at night because she’s UNWANTED. It’s sad af.
