ALACHUA, Fla. – Yesterday, Alachua Police Department (APD) K-9 Officer Railey and K-9 Joker conducted a routine narcotics sweep at Santa Fe High School, checking several classrooms, lockers, and common areas, with negative results.
In a Facebook post, Alachua Police Department wrote that it values its partnership with Alachua County Public Schools in keeping campuses safe and drug-free and creating a secure environment where students can focus on learning and success.
Now go sweep East Side High School.

It’s 2025 and pills are the drug of choice for most kids. K-9 Joker cannot smell those drugs.

This is obviously total BS for PR and to try and scare the (guilty) kids. Plenty of those kids have Marijuana scent on their clothes and other belongings, even if they don’t have a bag of weed in their locker. You can’t avoid it if you were in the same room (or car) where someone was smoking – even from the day before.
I can tell you with 100% certainty that any normal person can smell it – even without a dog. This must come from the same nonsense factory that said last week that most of the weed they find is laced with fentanyl and meth.
Do we know the background on these type of searches? How often, how successful in finding drugs, where?
Thank Goodness! Random sweeps are a good idea at all the schools.
They need to wait in the drop off line in the mornings at the elementary schools.
Guarantee they’ll catch some people. Equally unfortunate, they’ll be some officials claiming they were targeted.
Those officials who condone such illegal behaviors are part of the problem.
