Lane Enterprises breaks ground on Alachua Commerce Center manufacturing facility
Staff report
ALACHUA, Fla. – Lane Enterprises broke ground on a new stormwater pipe manufacturing facility in Alachua on Wednesday. The 100,000-square-foot facility, located on 33 acres at the Alachua Commerce Center, is expected to bring 60-80 jobs to the area, with a projected capital investment of $35 million over five years. The facility is Lane Enterprises’ eighteenth location in the United States.
About 80 people turned out for the ground-breaking, including the Mayor, City Commission, and City Manager of the City of Alachua and representatives of the Alachua Chamber of Commerce.
The facility will produce high-density polyethylene pipe (HDPE) and polypropylene pipe (PP) when it opens in 2024.
Lane Enterprises, which is employee-owned and has been in business since 1934, produces stormwater and drainage solutions for construction projects.
Good thing they didn’t try to build in Gainesville–the city commission would insist that they build paper pipes.
