  • It would be interesting to know what percentage of legal citizens in Alachua County Carry Gun it has to be low way too much of this crap you own and nobody puts a stop to it

    • Unless there was a true and imminent threat, I personally would stay clear. The complex and lasting effects of a shooting are the last thing I desire. Deescalation is tradecraft

        • That’s why if you’re gonna carry a gun, you should be very familiar with Florida Stand your ground law and truly understand when you are justified to shoot someone and when you’re not

      • I would say if you and a confined buliding and you’ve been threatened a little hard to stay clear

  • Start with the constant panhandlers on that corner. They legally aren’t supposed to be on that thin median but they come right back after the cops run them off.

    • Got it!

“ homeless violent crime emergency” is being caused by the county & city’s altruistic “special status” that promotes equality & inclusion…to help the vulnerable…so no one is left behind..

      How’s that working out?

    • The “homeless violent crime emergency” is becoming bad in GNV….

The following events are true, and came from recent homeless crime articles in the AC:

      If you’re a woman, you’re not safe at a water 💦 fountain, a city 🌃 park, a bus 🚎 stop 🚏, an intersection 🚦in your car, your home 🏠, a donut 🍩 shop, a chick-fil-A 🐓🍔, or a Burger King 🍔👑…

      Today’s headline read as follows:

“Large police response on West Newberry Road for man threatening to harm people inside restaurant”

There was a large police response and this guy got away?

There’s “constant panhandling on that corner”? …

we are having a public safety issue and the city & county have a responsibility to keep the citizens safe from criminals

The city & county need to stop all panhandling in medians immediately…

All illegal vagrant encampments need to be shut down and removed with their litter and trash 🗑️ ..

No more “special status” inviting criminals here from everywhere to receive benefits from alachua county taxpayers!

Put up a “no vacancy” sign for these bums…

Round them up, bring them to jail, put them on work release emptying public garbage cans that should be in public places and bus stops …after 7 days, give them additional hand up 🙋‍♀️, and a oneway ticket 🎟️ out and don’t come back!

10 year plan to end homelessness?

Grace should be mandated to reduce its population 10%/month to reduce the burden on Alachua county taxpayers…

Then, new program: 3 days temporary help to get you on your feet, and a bus ticket back to where you came from to unite you with your friends, family, & church…

If Grace can’t reduce the problem, then they lose their funding…

What’s going on right now is not working..

Public safety is an essential service…local government, please do your job and keep the citizens safe!

      • I forgot this other homeless crime headline today:

“Homeless man arrested for trying to enter locked GPD building…”

I think the homeless crime emergency is bad if they’re breaking into the “cop shop”..

        What do you think?

  • The amount of tax dollars wasted by Mayor Ward and the useless Gainesville City Commission on GRACE Marketplace and other programs designed to attract homeless people is already obscene, but the indirect costs are even higher–wasted police, fire, emergency medical resources, overtime, etc.
