Letter to the editor: Dr. Anthony Fauci Now Regards COVID-19 More Like Seasonal Infuenza

Dr. Anthony S. Fauci is a current member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, established in late January 2020 under President Trump in order to deal with the alleged COVID-19 pandemic.
On March 26, Dr. Fauci co-authored an article that appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine, “Covid-19 — Navigating the Uncharted”.
In a stunning admission, the article concludes that the COVID-19 case fatalities are probably no worse than seasonal influenza on the order of 0.1%.
” If one assumes that the number of asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic cases is several times as high as the number of reported cases, the case fatality rate may be considerably less than 1%. This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively.”
In a related March 19 advisory published in the UK, we discover similar admissions that significantly reduce the rate of COVID-19 mortality.
High consequence infectious diseases (HCID)
In an advisory published in the United Kingdom on March 19, it is claimed:
“COVID-19 is no longer considered to be a high consequence infectious disease (HCID) in the UK”
“The 4 nations public health HCID group made an interim recommendation in January 2020 to classify COVID-19 as an HCID. This was based on consideration of the UK HCID criteria about the virus and the disease with information available during the early stages of the outbreak. Now that more is known about COVID-19, the public health bodies in the UK have reviewed the most up to date information about COVID-19 against the UK HCID criteria. They have determined that several features have now changed; in particular, more information is available about mortality rates (low overall), and there is now greater clinical awareness and a specific and sensitive laboratory test, the availability of which continues to increase.
“The Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) is also of the opinion that COVID-19 should no longer be classified as an HCID.
“The need to have a national, coordinated response remains, but this is being met by the government’s COVID-19 response.”
These revealing publications were not found in MSM articles but were only brought to light through open-source research.
We must ask why there appears to be a deliberate attempt by mainstream media, national news and local officials to suppress all the facts with the draconian consequence of perpetuating panic, massive unemployment, distress, and mental anguish of Alachua County families and business owners.
No one can deny the human catastrophe that is unfolding before our eyes in New York and elsewhere. When people are dying in large numbers, hospitals are overwhelmed, and health care workers are seriously at risk, as well as dying, this manipulation of data seems way off the mark. It reminds me of an old saying “figures lie, and liars figure”.
In a Feb 28 article in the NEJM, Anthony Fauci back-tracked on the Covid-19 pandemic to claim it was no worse than a seasonal Flu. Mainstream Media has not reported this story, yet the State of Florida remains in lock-down and small businesses and their employees are shut-down as if they were in Communist China.
