Letter to the editor
My name is Shannon Boal, I live in Waldo, and I have been a registered voter in Alachua County since 1973. I registered as a Democrat, mostly because I thought then-Florida Governor Claude Kirk and U.S. President Richard Nixon (both Republicans) were jerks. I was wrong about Claude Kirk.
I have voted for Democratic candidates that I loved, like Governor Lawton “Walkin’ Lawton” Chiles. Mostly, I vote against bad candidates, not for good ones.
A few days ago, I answered my door to a candidate, and we talked a lot. He was walking all over Waldo in the heat to talk to people. His name is Marshall Rawson, and he is running for the Republican nomination for Florida State House District 10.
To be able to vote for him, I have changed my voting registration to Republican. It has been so hard to find a Democrat to vote for!

My name is Sandi Gardner. I live in High Springs and on a hot day not long ago Marshall Rawson knocked on my door too. I became a Republican after the first Obama term. My observations about Marshall during our talk was that he is passionate about the state of Florida. He is intelligent and a great listener. He spoke about things that are important to me and many others, farming. Watermelons, cantalopes, strawberries, tomatoes and citrus among many crops that bring income into our state and help to feed our country are vitally important.
Today I received a 6×10 colored postcard that is sent strictly to discredit Marshall Rawson. A lotof serious accusations are made in it. There is no one that claims responsibility for It. Just Accusations and a claim that Rawson is a lier. A man who cannot own what they claim is a questionable man.
