Local student selected for prestigious FBI Youth Leadership Program
Press release from Alachua County Public Schools
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Eastside High School sophomore Shivi Tripathi is one of just two students from Florida selected for the prestigious and highly competitive FBI Youth Leadership Program (YLP) to be held this summer. Tripathi will attend the week-long, federally-funded program at the FBI headquarters in Quantico, VA in June.
According to its website, the FBI National Academy Associates YLP focuses on developing “an influential community of socially conscious and service-minded leaders.” The program offers instruction led by law enforcement professionals and covers a wide range of topics, including ethical leadership, fitness, time management, and social media survival. Students engage in rigorous academic and physical training emphasizing personal growth and leadership skills, while also participating in local field trips and meeting with new FBI agents.
“This program, besides being highly competitive, is equally rigorous,” said Tripathi. “I am excited to learn about the various aspects of leadership and use the knowledge and drive to take on bigger challenges while also making a positive change in my community.”
At just 14 years of age, Tripathi is one of the youngest sophomores in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Eastside High. She is already highly involved in school activities, and her exceptional academic success and good citizenship were the primary criteria for her selection to the program.
Tripathi says she’s proud to represent Eastside and Florida in the FBI YLP.
“I am looking forward to learning from it as much as I can and also making new friends from all over the country,” she said.
Wow, what an impressive young lady. Congratulations!!
