Log cabin destroyed by fire in Archer

Staff report based on Alachua County Fire Rescue release
ARCHER, Fla. – At about 10 a.m. on October 15, Alachua County Fire Rescue crews responded to a residential fire in a two-story log cabin in Archer after receiving multiple calls from neighbors.
Arriving crews found the cabin fully engulfed in flames and determined that the effort would be defensive. A rural hitch was used and tanker operations were set up because the driveway was over half a mile long. Multiple propane tanks on the property also posed a threat to firefighters.
At least 13 units responded to the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Hopefully they get the rest of Helene’s dried-out hurricane debris picked up soon, it’s turned into a fire risk on its own.
