Macclenny man seriously injured in motorcycle crash south of Waldo

WALDO, Fla. – A 49-year-old Macclenny man was seriously injured Saturday night when his motorcycle hit an SUV on U.S. Hwy 301, south of Waldo.
At about 7:25 p.m., the motorcycle was traveling southbound on U.S. Hwy 301 near NE 91st Lane, closely following the SUV, which was driven by a 36-year-old Jacksonville man. The SUV abruptly slowed down, and the motorcycle hit the SUV from the rear. The motorcyclist was transported to UF Health Shands with serious injuries. The driver of the SUV was uninjured.
According to a release from Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet; the SUV driver was wearing a seatbelt.

It sounds like a completely avoidable accident. Law enforcement really needs to start cracking down on reckless behavior like tailgating and road racing.
