Man apprehended by K-9 in Archer after allegedly fleeing from Gainesville in stolen vehicle at speeds over 100 mph

Staff report

ARCHER, Fla. – J’madre Kyjuan Flowers, 21, was apprehended by a K-9 early yesterday morning after allegedly fleeing at high speeds from Gainesville to Archer in a stolen vehicle. Drugs and a gun were also reportedly found in the vehicle.

An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy reported that he saw a dark-colored SUV traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on SW 34th Street at about 3:37 a.m. Saturday morning; he tried to follow the SUV but lost track of it in the Westgate area. The deputy then saw the SUV leaving the Checkers drive-through and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the SUV fled; the deputy reported that he discontinued the pursuit in the best interest of public safety. He reported that after he discontinued the pursuit, the SUV ran a solid red light at 34th Street and W. University Avenue.

The deputy reported the description of the vehicle, and a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper saw it at SW 91st Street and SW Archer Road, where the trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop after pacing the SUV at 110 mph. The SUV fled westbound on SW Archer Road to the city of Archer, reportedly driving at speeds over 100 mph. When the SUV slowed down to about 70 mph, the trooper conducted a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT), causing the SUV to hit a concrete pole on the south shoulder of SW Archer Road near SR 45.

The driver, later identified as Flowers, allegedly fled into the woods south of the Family Dollar. Alachua County Sheriff’s Office K-9s arrived to track the suspect, and Flowers was apprehended by a K-9 in the woods.

A search of his vehicle reportedly produced 11.6 grams of MDPV, 15.4 grams of marijuana, a pill bottle with 30 pills containing MDMA (Ecstacy), a digital scale, and a loaded .380 handgun.

Deputies contacted the SUV’s owner, who said Flowers did not have permission to take her vehicle and wanted to press charges.

Flowers was transported to an emergency room for treatment of a K-9 bite and to check for injuries from the collision with the concrete pole.

Flowers has been charged with possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, fleeing at high speed, grand theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of resisting without violence, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, and DUI.

Flowers was previously adjudicated delinquent of grand theft of a motor vehicle as a juvenile. Since then, he was arrested in 2019 for hit and run with property damage and driving without a valid license; the hit and run charge was dropped, and adjudication of guilt was withheld for driving without a valid license. In 2021, he was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell and carrying a concealed firearm without a permit; the charges were later dropped. In 2022, a sworn complaint for domestic battery was filed against him, but the charges were later dropped.

Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $197,700.

  • Just another POS who has not learned to obey the laws lock his sorry ass away before he hurts a law abiding citizen
I sure the K-9 got treated also at least his mouth clean out

  • This young thug has had plenty of opportunity to make better choices. It’s time to apply hard core consequences that will leave a lasting impression.

  • Another. Convicted felon with a gun and drugs. The restrictions on gun ownership and the war on drugs are working equally effective on the law abiding .

  • Send your rising auto insurance bills to c/o the DA or Public Defender office, pick one.

  • Just a gun toting drug dealer who again has no business in society. He has been treated like other violent offenders in this county with kid gloves by the judicial system. Obviously law enforcement is doing their job by charging him for his past crimes but the State Attorney and Judges are not holding up to their elected jobs. Vote them out.

  • J’nadre doesn’t want to work . He’s a useless pos who needs a long sentence in jail. The taxpayers will always be supporting this lowlife.

    • Mo betta stupidity… The micro aggression is at an all time HIGH… Good grief….

  • Dropping charges hasn’t helped this defective child of the ‘hood. No respect for others, no morals, no right or wrong? Ignoring a gun crime twice didn’t teach him anything, did it?

    • He actually isn’t a “hood” kid! Making bad decisions has NOTHING to do with race, gender, or demographics… SMH! The internet justice team strikes again!

  • Kid was doomed in elementary school being teased and told he was dumb because he couldn’t spell his name!

  • “…the deputy reported that he discontinued the pursuit in the best interest of public safety…” Good judgement on the part of the deputy.

  • All these charges dropped against him, no wonder he thinks that he can get away with anything

  • And leftists want K-9 officers removed from the police??? This thing would still be loose on the public if not for this hero dog. Good boy sweetheart, sic ’em!
