Man arrested after allegedly cutting off car on Williston Road, attacking occupant with a metal bat

Daniel Cataldo, 30, whose listed address is in Indiana, was arrested early this morning after cutting off another car on Williston Road and then attacking one of the car’s occupants with a metal bat.

The four occupants of the car reported that they were driving eastbound on SW Williston Road near SW 13th Street at about 2:00 a.m. when another car started driving close to them. They moved to the far right lane, but then they said the other car turned sharply toward their car and stopped directly in front of them, preventing them from leaving. One occupant stepped out of their car and yelled at the driver to ask what he was doing.

The driver, who was later identified as Cataldo, then allegedly got out of his car with a metal bat, ran toward the victim, and hit him in the head with the bat. The other occupants of the victim’s car and a man who had been in the car behind the victim’s car reportedly pulled Cataldo away from the victim, took the bat, and sat Cataldo on the ground to wait for law enforcement.

Cataldo has been charged with aggravated battery causing injury and is being held without bail pending first appearance.
