Man arrested after chasing down stolen dirt bike, threatening property owner with AK pistol

BY JENNIFER CABRERA

Maurice Shawn Hendrieth, 32, was arrested yesterday after chasing down his stolen dirt bike to a residence and then threatening the property owner with an AK pistol.

According to the arrest report, Hendrieth’s dirt bike was stolen, and he followed the dirt bike to a home off SE 15th Street, where the man on the dirt bike fled the area. Hendrieth then allegedly got out of his vehicle carrying a Micro Draco (AK-style) pistol with a fully-loaded 30-round magazine. Hendrieth reportedly told the property owner to “call your homeboy” in an attempt to retrieve the dirt bike.

The property owner reportedly told Hendrieth to leave her property, but he allegedly continued to demand the return of the dirt bike while standing on the victim’s property, openly carrying the pistol. Hendrieth’s girlfriend reportedly convinced him to leave.

The victim told police that she was afraid for her life but that she never saw Hendrieth raise the pistol or point it at anybody or make any specific threats.

Post Miranda, Hendrieth reportedly admitted to walking onto the victim’s property while demanding the return of his dirt bike and holding the pistol. He reportedly said he brought the pistol because he was afraid the men at the property would be armed.

Hendrieth has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and openly carrying a weapon. He has been released from the Alachua County Jail.

  • Gainesville wants to be another pathetic ‘California’. Arresting someone for trying to get his own property back? Typical demonrat leadership.

  • Was he legally the gun owner? Is a dirt bike a motorcycle or bicycle for dirt trails? I have too many questions to make a conclusion.

  • He was just trying to get his property back from a thief that should be n jail.
