Man arrested for attacking, choking, and trying to rob victim
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Brandon Thomas Quinn, 36, was arrested last night and charged with battery and attempted robbery after allegedly waiting for the victim to come out of the Main Street Publix and then attacking and choking him and trying to take his bag.
At about 8:50 p.m., a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to the Publix on Main Street (1302 N. Main Street), where the victim said he had retreated into Publix for safety after Quinn started yelling at him; he said he and Quinn had previously argued.
The victim said that when he thought Quinn had left, he left Publix but saw Quinn walking toward him, yelling, “What are you doing on this side of town?” He said Quinn tried to grab a bag from his back, and he struggled to keep Quinn from taking the bag. The victim said Quinn punched him in the face multiple times, breaking his glasses and cutting his eye; Quinn also allegedly strangled the victim to the point where he almost lost consciousness.
The officer reported that the victim’s injuries were consistent with his account of the incident.
Post Miranda, Quinn reportedly said he and the victim got into a verbal argument about how the victim lied about getting Quinn arrested several months ago. Quinn has an unspecified criminal history in another state between 2010 and 2020 but no criminal history in Florida. Judge William Davis set bail at $40,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Business as usual in Clown Town. Shame on the judges for letting so many criminals go.
The perp was arrested several months ago but has no criminal record, what about an arrest record? What for and is the case active?
I think we know the answer. He came here from elsewhere due to our generous and welcoming neighborly community…. 👺🤡👿💩👹
I’m sure he came to better his life but has had hard time finding work and has fell in to the homeless lifestyle however the police did arrest him and charges were dropped
Main street public attracts a rough crowd. I quit going there years ago
I don’t think anyone cares
You are probably hanging out there along with your McPherson park homies
Better than you in front of circle K trying to talk to kids, bet you have to stay 1000 feet from a school now, right felon?
No, I actually monitor freaks like yourself since you seem to be familiar with circle k.
:):):)
Used to go to the Chinese take out next to Publix on main. To many bums hanging around. No thanks
This guy did acuse him of the same thing before and charges were dropped. Quinn went to the other side of town to be away from him and here he is again. I’m sure all Quinn wants is a job and a place off the streets.
Come on judge….really? He assaults someone and causes injury and you give him a low bond. Hopefully the next victim will have the necessary means to defend themselves and put this mentally ill predator out of his misery?
