Man arrested for displaying gun while skateboarding at Possum Creek Park
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gregory Joseph Starr, 21, was arrested last night and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after a witness reported that Starr was brandishing a gun every time he made a jump on his skateboard at Possum Creek Park.
At about 11:58 p.m. on October 25, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to the park, where the caller said he did not feel safe because Starr kept brandishing his gun while on his skateboard.
The officer detained Starr and reportedly found a loaded pistol in his waistband.
Post Miranda, Starr reportedly declined to say anything.
Starr’s Alachua County offenses are all traffic offenses, but he has three felony convictions in Marion County and an active warrant out of Marion County.
Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $50,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
He’s going to be the Starr of his cellblock
3 arrests yesterday of people, 2 convicted felons, brandishing firearms. They know they’re not supposed to but they do it anyway. Despite what the liberal idiots are going to say, criminals do not, and will not obey the rules.
Cut their hands off and they won’t be brandishing anything but a hook.
What a f**cking clown
Right up until he was found to be a felon, he was good.
“Brandishing” is a catchall but typically has to to show that a weapon was displayed in a rude, careless, angry, or threatening manner.
A shirt coming up when doing an activity is not brandishing.
A non felon would not have been arrested for this.
I don’t think so. If it shows once while you’re reaching for something in a grocery store that would be accidental, but repeatedly allowing it to show “every time he made a jump” is willfully “careless” and a responsible gun handler would know better.
Looks like he was just charged with possession of a gun by a felon. It would appear that his actions in this case did not meet the criteria for a brandishing charge.
They can always add charges. He committed a crime no matter what the moment he picked the gun and jammed in his waistband. He is a convicted felon and he knows the rules.
Haha gregg’s always been an idiot.
Mr. Starr is a very smart, prepared individual, providing concealed carry protection for himself in the, as our Cult Leader Donald Trump says, the crime ridden garbage can known as Springs County, United States.
All this time I thought he was likely one of those highly educated voters of Gainesville.
You won today’s award. Tone it down liberal
Oink, oink.
Sure.
It will be time to “tone it down” when Trump is no longer running for President, and MAGAtard Republicans return to sane Republican values and end their extreme culture wars, and Newberritards give up the delusionally bad idea of seceding into Springs County.
Until then, No. Understand? I will not sit idly by while the above CONservative ideas threaten to totally eff up my life.
Trump won’t be running, he’ll be the next CIC. Read back to yourself what you posted and tell me you’re sane.
CIC means Criminal In Cellblock C.
