ALACHUA, Fla. – Albert Odarius Trevell Darling, 35, was arrested yesterday evening after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop at high speed through a residential neighborhood in Alachua.

After an Alachua Police Department Office tried to conduct a traffic stop at about 6:45 p.m. in the 15300 block of NW 134th Terrace, Darling allegedly fled, driving “with wanton disregard for the public’s safety,” passing cars by driving off the road, and narrowly missing both cars and private property. The officer also noted that the neighborhood is known to have heavy pedestrian foot traffic. The officer wrote that Darling reached 90 mph in zones that were 25 or 30 mph. Darling was eventually stopped and arrested.

Darling has been charged with fleeing police with disregard for the safety of persons or property. He has seven felony convictions and has served two state prison terms, with his most recent release in 2017. He is being held on $100,000 bail.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Thank goodness no one was injured. I think the police should have stopped the pursuit due to the speed/neighborhood. They had the tag #. Sound like an idiot, they would have caught up with him.

  • Two prison terms!

What does this tell you about prison being a deterrent?

Our liberal justice system is failing this country.

  • I live in that neighborhood the cops chasing him were also doing 90 miles an hour

  • All drugs and gun tossed out of window during the short high speed chase. Valid driver’s license, no warrants, so why flee from the cops?!?! Had to flee couldn’t get caught with dope and guns not going back to state prison 😢😳😢😳
