Man arrested for pointing shotgun during argument

BY JENNIFER CABRERA

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Valdez Lee, 46, was arrested yesterday and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after allegedly pointing a shotgun at another man during an argument.

A Gainesville Police Department officer responded to a report of a disturbance in the 300 block of SW 7th Place and found that the victim had driven two people to Lee’s residence to help them move out. Lee reportedly became angry and yelled at all three of them to get off his property. The property owner, who is related to Lee, asked the three people to stand across the street so Lee could calm down.

Lee reportedly entered the residence, brought a shotgun outside, and allegedly pointed it at the victim. He then reportedly walked back inside the house and put the shotgun down.

Post Miranda, Lee reportedly said he was just moving the shotgun away from the door.

Lee has 11 felony convictions and 20 misdemeanor convictions and has served three state prison sentences. Bail information is unavailable on weekends.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • WTF is wrong with Wokeville, is the medical examiner getting kickbacks from the body donor industry, too?

  • Here’s an idea, before any convicted felon is released from jail/prison, they must acknowledge the two things they are not permitted to do:
    1. Possess a firearm
    2. Vote (unless requirements have been met)

Make sure they sign and if found in violation of said acknowledgement, if they maimed or killed another person in the act of committing a crime with a firearm, they forfeit the “get out of jail” card. For added emphasis, they also have both hands cut off. Can’t have the ambidextrous having preferential treatment.

Protect yourselves, criminals have firearms, you should as well, (if you’re legally able.

  • I guess Mr. Lee was on the “buying team” at the latest GPD Gun Buyback activity!

11 felony convictions and 20 misdemeanor convictions and has served three state prison sentences! Only one reason people like this keep getting released and their leaders are currently sitting on the AC BOCC and GNV CC!

This is the new wild, wild, west!

  • No good deed shall go unpunished…that’s we he got for letting some bums move into his house and didn’t have the $800 to pay a lawyer to evict them legally…the unintended consequences GNV landlord tenant ordinance . Evictions should be fast and free from the legal system…The 3 bums he was trying to get out of his house will be at Grace and we will be reading an article about them soon….
