Man arrested for raping long-time friend

BY JENNIFER CABRERA

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Terrence Lee Walker, Jr., 31, was arrested early yesterday morning after a long-time friend and on-and-off girlfriend said he raped her.

The victim told a Gainesville Police Department officer that Walker had been texting her all day about coming over and having sex, but she told him they were not going to have sex. He reportedly came to her house anyway, which she said was not uncommon because they had known each other for years and are in an on-and-off relationship. However, she said that after he arrived at her house, he took her phone and reset it. When the victim tried to take her phone back, they began wrestling over the phone, and Walker allegedly pinned her to the bed and raped her, then fled.

The officer wrote that there were tufts of hair in the bedroom, consistent with the victim’s account that Walker had pulled her hair and choked her. The victim also showed the officer that her phone was reset, and the officer wrote that the room showed signs of a struggle.

Post Miranda, Walker reportedly said they had consensual sex.

Walker is on probation following a Duval County DUI conviction. He was accused of sexual battery on a minor in 2013, but the charge was dropped. He is being held on $100,000 bail and will be fitted with a GPD monitor before release.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Sure would be nice to get him out of Alachua County and back to Duval County. But I know that would never happen.

    • Unless they give him time served for what he does here he’ll get shipped to Duval county AFTER he does his time here to serve time for his probation violation
