Adam Andrew Marini, 49, was arrested yesterday for sending threats to kill and injure a woman after he accused her of stealing his drugs.
Marini and the victim are acquaintances. The victim resides at GRACE Marketplace; Marini has a Gainesville address listed on the arrest report, but he was arrested at GRACE. After Marini accused the woman of stealing drugs from him, the woman found Facebook messages from an account with the name “Tony Gambii” with various threats, some of which read in part, “I don’t care if it cost me $500 just to have your… face smashed…,” “I got people over here who… will… hook your tent up to my car and dragged [sic] it with you in it,” “I want to fight now…,” and “I might just pay… if I can rape you.”
A Gainesville Police Department officer determined that the face on the “Tony Gambii” account was Marini’s. Post Miranda, Marini reportedly said he didn’t get into an argument with the victim and that he was not mad at her, but he later allegedly said he was mad at her for stealing $100 and a cigarette. When Marini found out that police had read the Facebook messages, he reportedly admitted that he had been messaging her from the “Tony Gambii” account but had then put his phone down, and someone else must have written the threats.
Marini has been charged with sending a written threat to kill or injure and is being held on $25,000 bail. If he posts bail, he will be fitted with a GPS monitor and will be prohibited from using the internet. Marini is currently on probation from both a guilty adjudication on fraud charges in 2020 and a separate guilty adjudication on a charge of domestic battery with strangulation in 2021.
