Man arrested for sexual battery of disabled housemate
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Tyrone D. Reed, 45, was arrested early this morning and charged with sexual battery with no physical force after a report that he raped a disabled man.
A Gainesville Police Department officer responded to a home in the 1400 block of NE 20th Place, where a witness reported that Reed had followed another man into the common restroom, where the victim was brushing his teeth. She said she saw Reed walk past her toward the restroom, followed by about two minutes of silence; she said she went to the restroom and saw through the open door that Reed was backing away from the victim, whose pajama pants had been pulled down. When she asked Reed what he was doing, he reportedly said, “I have done nothing.”
The witness said that after the incident, the victim seemed “physically helpless, scared, and speechless.” The victim reportedly has limited mental capacity.
Post Miranda, Reed reportedly said he had never touched the victim.
Reed has previous convictions for burglary and battery. Judge Thomas Jaworski set bail at $10,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
A $10,000 bail for raping a mentally challenged adult male by another male? A very sick one at that. Shame on this judge for such a lenient bail amount and for having no regard in protecting the mentality challenged in our society from evil people. Judges included!
Judge Tommy is an idiot. $10.000 for a sexual battery charge and on a disabled person. He should be the next to be retired or removed.
Or put in a room with the perp.
Think that bond amount is missing a zero…at least I hope it is!
Looks like Walter Green’s replacement is already here- and his name is Thomas Jaworski.
Well he’s right in jail now where the backends are at so why not go up on the bond and keep him??!!
Low bail equals less cost to house minimal thugs.
I will agree to increase local taxes for many more.
From the article, it appears to me that Reed is a client who lives in the group home. It leads me to think that as a client he lives on Social Security like the rest of them do. On such a limited income he would have a very slim chance of making bail unless someone else paid it for him. That would not be good. He needs to stay in jail even though he may be mentally challenged unless there is a group home that can control clients in such a way they have no access or ability to harm another client. My heart goes out to the gentleman that was a victim of Reed. That kind of abuse leaves scars for life.
That is exactly how it sounds. 10000 to a disabled person on Social security is like 100000. He doesn’t have it and can’t get it.
Heinous and should be thrown out of the group home. Was this a disability home perhaps owned by an NGO campaign donor, or skool board member, perhaps? 🧐🤔
Both of them are mental where was the house keeper was it the lady that witnessed it if so she should have never let them enter bathroom together.. do they give them medicine to help with their hormones because some people with mental disabilities nature is really high… and if they are mental why did they exposed his photo like this… I’m not saying he’s not wrong but he’s in that house because he’s disabled and need supervision
It could be a home with only 1 staff person so you can’t expect 1 person to watch multiple people and i doubt all that happened in 2 minutes so she probably stopped it
Be carefull TT they going to call you WOKE for understanding that this man was a resident at the group home also so is also sick.
