Man arrested for stalking 11-year-old

BY JENNIFER CABRERA

Brandon Jamil Brown, 34, was arrested yesterday after repeatedly trying to lure an 11-year-old girl into his car.

According to the arrest report, at about 7:30 a.m. on December 26, Brown allegedly approached the 11-year-old victim as she was walking in the area of NW 10th Street and NW 35th Avenue. He was driving a dark SUV. He allegedly asked for her address and phone number and exposed himself to her. The victim ignored Brown and kept walking, and he eventually drove away.

Brown allegedly approached the victim again later near NW 36th Avenue and NW 8th Street, and she continued to ignore him. The victim said she waited until he was out of view to go home and tell her mother what had happened.

The victim also reported seeing Brown in the same SUV approach her within the past month, asking if she wanted a ride.

On December 27, a Gainesville Police Department officer identified a possible suspect vehicle (a Honda Pilot), and the officer saw that vehicle in the area of NW 19th Avenue and NW 6th Street on December 28. The SUV was pulled over for a traffic violation, and officers on scene confirmed that Brown had an active warrant out of Duval County for Failure to Comply with Career Offender Requirements.

8.8 grams of MDPV were found in a body search after arrest. Brown has been charged with luring or enticing a child, lewd or lascivious behavior by a person over 18, lewd and lascivious exhibition, aggravated stalking of a victim under 16, and possession of a controlled substance. He is being held on $125,000 bond.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Amazing how Gainesville continues to attract an awful lot of less than desirable individuals.

How’s that progressiveness working for you?
