Man arrested for threatening family with revolver in road rage incident
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Virlen Wayne Jackson, 66, was arrested yesterday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting an officer without violence after allegedly threatening a family with a revolver while driving past them.
At about 5:50 p.m. yesterday, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the intersection of NW 76th Boulevard and W. Newberry Road after a caller reported that he was threatened by a passing motorist with a revolver and that he had children in his car during the incident. The victim provided the deputy with a description and the tag number of the suspect’s vehicle.
The deputy found the suspect’s truck at Taco Bell, parked in front of the truck, and ordered the driver out of the truck at gunpoint. The suspect allegedly tried to drive around the deputy’s patrol vehicle but was unable to get past the other vehicles in the drive-through. The deputy again ordered the driver out of the truck, and he reportedly grabbed his revolver and threw it in the backseat. He was eventually detained and handcuffed.
The suspect was identified as Jackson, and a search of his truck reportedly produced a Dan Wesson .357 Magnum revolver loaded with six rounds.
Jackson has no criminal history; Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $105,000.

This dumb ass needs some jail time to think about what he did.
Don’t believe everything people tell you. Everyone thinks that they know it all. Well you are all way off. I seen this happening.
Did he have a lockbox for the gun, there too? Obviously it’s difficult to open it while driving, so it was probably unlocked or open, another violation.
Having to keep it locked up or out of reach is a myth. Nowhere in the states statues does it say what you just cited as being a violation. Get informed before you make statements.
No taco’s for YOU Virlen!
I have no problem with the high bail, but this same judge normally sets much lower bail for others with serious criminal backgrounds. Make them all high!
Threatening a random man and his kids with a gun, just because you wanted to get to Taco Bell faster?! Yeah, you’re a real tough guy, Virlen. Better learn to like prison tacos.
Another guy that thinks he can solve his problems with a gun, thank you Gov. DeSantis.
