Man arrested for threatening to hit utility worker with a crowbar
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Matthew James Osgood, 45, of Citra, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly threatening to hit a utility worker with a crowbar.
At about 1:15 p.m. on April 28, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to an area near the intersection of NW 6th Street and NW 3rd Avenue, where the victim said he and his co-workers were performing utility work and had blocked off their work area for safety.
The victim said Osgood came into the blocked-off area and approached him; when he was asked to leave the blocked-off area for safety reasons, Osgood reportedly began yelling at the utility workers. Osgood reportedly left and then returned with a crowbar; he allegedly continued yelling while swinging the crowbar and threatening to hit the victim. The victim said he was in fear for his life.
All of the victim’s co-workers corroborated his story.
Post Miranda, Osgood reportedly did not want to answer questions.
Osgood has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He lives in Citra and told Court Services he works for a lawn care company and was only in Gainesville for the day. He has one felony conviction (non-violent), two misdemeanor convictions (non-violent), and two criminal traffic convictions. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $10,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law

With no reason given for his actions, I can safely say that this guy just doesn’t like utility workers.
So since he works for a lawn care company, if the utility workers were working in the area you were to be working in, it’s a no brainer, go to a different job and come back to this one later. Not sure why some people feel violence is the quick answer. Now he is looking at prison time maybe up to 5 years. Go serve your time and learn how to deal with your anger.
Don’t they have electricity in Citra, yet?

How was the area blocked off? Don’t tell me the workers left an open manhole 🕳️ cover unattended, the area was not properly secured , and the workers were across the street in the shade…
