Man arrested for trying to rape woman who was trying to help him get mental health meds
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Zacchaeus Travion Ivery Jones, 25, was arrested yesterday after allegedly attempting to rape a woman who was trying to help him get mental health medications; he also allegedly battered her, stalked her, and endangered an infant during the incident.
On February 9, Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home where the victim said she had taken Jones to the VA Hospital to get some medications, but when he was unable to get them, she took him to his relative’s home and called the VA for him.
She said that while she was on the phone with a nurse, Jones locked the door to the room they were in and then tried to pull down her pants while exposing his genitals, rubbing against her, and putting his hands down her pants. She said she told him to stop and pushed him away.
The victim said that she tried to leave the room, but Jones blocked the door, pushed her onto the bed, and tried to remove her clothing. She said that when she was pushed, she fell on top of her infant, and the infant nearly fell off the bed. She said she tried to push Jones off of her while telling him he was going to jail.
The victim said she tried to call someone to help her, but Jones took her phone and put it out of reach; she finally pushed her way past Jones and escaped the bedroom with her infant.
Post Miranda, Jones reportedly admitted that he locked the door and tried to initiate sexual intercourse with the victim by taking her pants off and removing his own pants. He reportedly acknowledged that the victim told him to stop.
Jones reportedly said that when the victim unlocked the door to leave the room, he re-locked it and tried again to initiate sexual intercourse; he said she “sounded more serious” the second time she told him to stop.
Jones reportedly said the victim had tried to call someone, and he admitted to taking her phone.
The victim reportedly told Jones to leave her alone and not contact her after the incident, but he allegedly contacted her on Instagram.
Jones has been charged with sexual battery, felony battery, child abuse without great bodily harm, false imprisonment, and stalking. He has three misdemeanor convictions (one violent). Judge Tatum Davis ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.

“Help’ is on the way! See next article for just the right women to ‘help’ him with her scissors. A match made in heaven.
Lorena Bobbitt special!
Looks like Zacchaeus should climb back up that sycamore tree.
Is he a veteran, is that why she contacted the VA for meds? Is the “relative” she tried contacting HIS or HER relative, or are all three related?
If he has a history of marijuana and other drug abuse, he’s best sent to Guam.
Gainesville now sucks. Thanks to the city and county commissions, GRACE Marketplace and the bleeding heart liberals, who welcome them from all corners of the USA. The actual taxpayers mean nothing to the,
And the same at the national level with the MAGA party over country bunch.
“Grab them by the p…..” is a lewd comment made by Donald Trump in a 2005 conversation with Access Hollywood host Billy Bush, which was recorded on a hot mic while they were on a bus traveling to film a segment. In the conversation, Trump described kissing women without consent and said, “When you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p….. You can do anything.”
I guess he’s not a star…
TDS. Remember three more years abd then another 8 yr. with Vance and Rubio. Your brain is going to be fried. Get some meds. This article has nothing to do with Trump. It has everything to do with a POS who is going to claim his mental health is tge excuse for attempted rape and child abuse.
Normalizing misogyny and abuse of women by supporting enablers and convicted sex offenders does bother me and most other Americans as well.
Y’all could have supported Rubio or Haley but didn’t… “and may every day be another wonderful secret.”
Kathy, my thoughts exactly. I am a multigenerational Alachua County resident and have observed Gnv being destroyed by theorist, not common sense business minded leadership. Nonresident students voting in local elections is wrong… Poor transportation arteries are increasing. I only go to the MRVA Medical Center twice a year, thankful other VA facilities are currently on the outskirts. Haven’t been to the Oaks Mall in many years, into Walmart and Lowe’s at Butler one time when it first opened. Yes, the town Sucks!
Why didn’t the VA help this US military Vet prior to this incident?
Thanks to the childish ideas of our liberal commissioners, who would never survive a day in the real world, this criminal will be able to harass the victim from jail by making 1000 phone calls on the taxpayers’ dime.
this is so sad for him and the victims.
