Man arrested in rape of young teen

Leroy Travis Simmons, 35, was arrested yesterday in the rape of a young teen who he apparently met at a Circle K.
According to the arrest report, Simmons was seen on video footage at 11:31 p.m. on September 6, speaking to a young teen at the Circle K at 39th Avenue and Main Street. After a brief conversation, the teen got into his vehicle, and he drove away. The arrest report redacts the age of the victim but notes that “she appears to be 12 years old and possibly younger”; the charge is for a victim over 12 years of age but under 18 years of age.
Simmons allegedly drove the victim back to his residence and gave her marijuana, which she smoked. He then raped her and dropped her off at the Circle K at 3525 SW 34th Street.
After speaking to the victim and reviewing the video footage, law enforcement tracked the car to a witness who said Simmons frequently uses her car and was using it on the night of the incident.
Simmons has been charged with sexual battery of a victim over 12 years of age with no physical force used. He is being held in the Alachua County Jail on $750,000 bond.
Not to minimize the atrocity of the alleged act itself but what in the world is a 12 year old girl,(could have been a boy), doing out at a store at 11:30 p.m.?
Did she solicit sex for marijuana? The story states she willingly got into the vehicle with the p€rv€rt. Still not an excuse for the horrendous act he committed and he should be punished… severely.
He should be castrated and her parent(s) should be charged with child endangerment/neglect. Maybe they shouldn’t be allowed to propagate again.
