GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Osiel Lopez-Hernandez, 31, was arrested early this morning and charged with driving under the influence, DUI with damage to property, and driving without a valid license.
A Gainesville Police Department Officer responded to a report of a crash in the 1900 block of NE 3rd Street at about 10:30 p.m. last night and reportedly found that Lopez-Hernandez’s truck had struck a parked car in front of a home; the driver of the car had gone inside a house, but a passenger was sitting in the car when it was hit.
The officer reported that Lopez-Hernandez had bloodshot eyes and smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage. Since Lopez-Hernandez is from Mexico, an officer who spoke Spanish came to the scene to help communicate with him.
Lopez-Hernandez reportedly performed poorly on the field sobriety tests and was unable to complete two of the exercises.
Lopez-Hernandez has a history of multiple convictions for driving without a valid license since 2014. He is being held on $3,000 bail.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
