Man charged with stabbing his girlfriend

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Sebastian Emmanuel Vargas, 24, was arrested yesterday and charged with domestic aggravated battery for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend.

At about 3:40 a.m. on September 30, Gainesville Police Department officers and EMS responded to an apartment near the 1100 block of SW 6th Street, where the victim said she told Vargas she wanted to break up and he threw her to the ground and stabbed her in the chest. The officer reported that the victim suffered a 2-3-inch laceration on her torso.

The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment, and Vargas reportedly fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, so a warrant for his arrest was issued on October 9.

Vargas has been charged with domestic aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He has no criminal convictions, but he has an active warrant for a felony arson charge out of Suwannee County. Judge Adam Lee ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • “He has no criminal history” You must have meant to say he has no criminal history HERE yet! What about his home country? You really don’t believe that the Biden admin vetted their open border BS. Do you? Put this one on ‘ICE’!
