Man on pre-trial release arrested for allegedly threatening to kill roommate with a knife
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jeremy Thomas Hudgens IV, 34, was arrested early this morning after allegedly threatening to kill a roommate with a knife.
At about 11:30 p.m. on May 13, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a home in southwest Gainesville, where the victim, Hudgens’s roommate, said Hudgens had “randomly started freaking out” and yelling at him and a woman. During the argument, Hudgens allegedly grabbed a knife and approached the victim, saying he was going to kill him. The victim said he sprinted out of the residence.
The woman reportedly said she was sitting in a vehicle when she saw Hudgens holding a knife and saying something to the victim like, “I got something for ya.” She said the victim left the house and picked up a broom handle, and Hudgens put the knife back in its sheath and left it on a table near the front door before leaving the property with her. The woman and the victim both reportedly told the deputy that the knife was on the table.
Hudgens has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He has no criminal convictions, but he was arrested last July for allegedly pointing a gun at an ex-girlfriend’s sister; he was released on $15,000 bail, and formal charges have been filed in that case. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $100,000 on the new charge and ordered him to maintain an alternate residence upon release.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
