Man on pre-trial release arrested for possession of stolen firearm
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Tyreic Terrel Brewer, 20, was arrested last night and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and grand theft of a firearm after his Lyft driver was pulled over for speeding. He was on pre-trial release for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of trafficking quantities of phenethylamines.
An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Lyft driver in the 2200 block of NW 16th Avenue at about 9:45 p.m. last night; she was reportedly driving 41 mph in a 35 mph zone.
During the traffic stop, the deputy’s narcotics-certified K-9 conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted to contraband in the vehicle. A probable cause search reportedly produced a firearm under the back seat cover, where Brewer was sitting.
The driver reportedly told the deputy that she picked up Brewer in Majestic Oaks; she said she did not recognize the gun and that there were no guns in the vehicle before she picked up Brewer.
The deputy ran the serial number of the gun and learned that it had been reported stolen in Gainesville in January.
Brewer was last arrested on December 9 on multiple charges of firearm possession and drug possession; formal charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of trafficking quantities of phenethylamines were later filed, and he was released on $75,000 bail. His release conditions stipulate that he is not permitted to have weapons or drugs.
Brewer has five felony convictions (none violent) and one misdemeanor conviction (violent), along with a juvenile history spanning 2014 to 2020. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $100,000, but prosecutors have filed a motion to have his bond in the previous case revoked.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Â
It’s funny how Democrats keep saying we need more gun laws. There’s already laws on the book that states a felon cannot be in possession of the firearm yet these damn idiots keep stealing guns and carry them around. Maybe the Democrats should start saying if you’re felon and with a gun, 20 years in prison
Someone burnt this dude hard..ASO, pulls a car over for 6 mph over the speed limit, in the city limits??…LOL. Nope, that NEVER happens people. Someone from Majestic called the crimestoppers number and told them Brewer had a gun, what the description of the car was, time lapse, and where he was headed…good catch none the less, and an award to the fine citizen who dimed him!
Another upstanding felon with broken helicopter blades with a stolen gun. He was released on bail with stipulations he not be permitted to be in possession of weapons or drugs in December. Well how did that at work out. He goes back to the same ways. He gets caught again and Judge Miller-Jones sets another bond and the state attorney has to motion for a VOP. I hope she gets a little stronger with these repeat felons. She not in teen drug court anymore and these are not people making minor bad judgements on their behavior.
“He was on pre-trial release for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of trafficking quantities of phenethylamines.”
‘Pre-trial release’= Go forth and sin no more (or at least don’t get caught)
Stuck here thanks to scummy public attorneys and judges since 2014. Instead of being permanently sent to Puerto Rico.
There is no 35 mph zone there that I have seen. NW 22nd Street is 25. 16th Ave is 40. She was probably going 41 in a 25, coming off 22nd Street.
who cares it was reported nhe ha d gun so stop him he was on pre trial release
Think there is a 35 zone at the bottom of the 2 hills where the crosswalk is.
He needs a gun cause someone pooped on his head?
Stupid a$$ sputnik hair do seems to say, look ya’ll, I’m a criminal!
