GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Logan Travis Gray, 23, was arrested early this morning after allegedly trying to break into an occupied car by kicking the window, trying the door handles, and picking up a brick.

The victims were reportedly sitting in their car near Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church on NW 2nd Street at about 2:20 a.m. when a man, later identified as Gray, approached the driver’s side of their vehicle and started kicking the window and yelling at them to get out of the car. The victims also reported that the man was “vigorously” trying the door handles on both sides of the vehicle. The driver said that he showed the man that he was calling 911, and the man walked away, picked up an unknown object that appeared to be a brick, and tried again to break into the passenger side door, telling the passenger to open the door. The victims said that the man then walked away.

The victims provided a description of the man, and a Gainesville Police Department Officer stopped a man who fit the description at 200 NW 2nd Street; the victims identified him as the man who had tried to break into their car.

Post Miranda, Gray reportedly said he didn’t know anything about an attempted car burglary and that he was walking back to his car from the downtown area.

Gray was previously arrested on September 7, 2022, after allegedly firing two shots into the air in a residential neighborhood after an argument with his girlfriend; he was also charged with possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana. He is on pre-trial release on those charges, with his next case management hearing scheduled for December 7.

Gray has been charged with two counts of unarmed attempted burglary of an occupied vehicle. He has no felony convictions but is facing felony charges from the September arrest. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $60,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Is this loser FROM Gainesville, so he was raised in our permissive no boundaries school system? Or, was he attracted to our welcoming community of too many eager lawyers with big law school loans to pay off? Or, is he 5% ghetto heritage on ancestry.com?

  • On pretrial release for firing a gun when this violent attack happened?? Good old liberal Gainesville, hopefully Judge Brewer can help put a stop to this and keep these criminals behind bars!

  • Probably just an idealistic youngster doing his small part to fight climate change by “vigorously” urging the “victims” to get out of their car and walk more, drive less.
