Man on pre-trial release arrested on gun and drug charges
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Keenan Javar Jackson, 31, was arrested yesterday on a warrant for firearm theft and battery after marijuana was allegedly found during a traffic stop.
A woman filed a sworn complaint against Jackson on September 17, alleging that Jackson had hit her multiple times during an altercation, which led her to produce her pistol. She said Jackson took her pistol, put it in his pocket, then took out his own gun and hit her in the head. She said Jackson then sent her texts, telling her he still had her gun and refusing to return it to her. A warrant for his arrest was issued on September 21 with recommended bail of $300,000.
An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy pulled Jackson over yesterday on SW 13th Street and reportedly saw baggies of marijuana in plain view. Another baggie was reportedly found during a search incident to arrest for the active warrant.
Jackson has been charged with battery, grand theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana.
Jackson has nine felony convictions (none violent) and nine misdemeanor convictions (none violent). He has served two state prison sentences, with his most recent release in 2021. He is on pre-trial release after posting a $25,000 bond for drug charges following a January 2023 arrest.
Bail information is unavailable on weekends.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Â
There we go again, another felon with a firearm. To further reinforce the theory that criminals are stupid and that you can’t fix what doesn’t want to be – he was on pre-trial release.
Do yourself a favor, be proactive – if you’re legally able, be prepared to protect yourself and your family.
The life you save is probably of more value than the one you preemptively end if they assault you or your family.
Another opportunity for the anti gun violence crowd to step up and enforce existing law to the fullest. It does not take rocket science, but maybe more than the local Democrat politicians have.
drug deal gong wrong
Juries must be involved at the plea bargain table. Nobody of this quality should be released over and over, it just encourages more crime to feed the lawyers and crooked judges.
And I guarantee you he’ll get out on this one, another pre-trial release. Vote Democrat here’s what you get.
Another example of somebody that should have been prison for life for multiple felony convictions. 3 felony convictions and life in prison was a great law.
