Man on pre-trial release for selling drugs arrested on I-75 with drugs and gun
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Nicholas Alexander Holland, Jr., 30, was arrested yesterday and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana.
At about 3:57 p.m. yesterday, a Gainesville Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop at the 374 mile marker of I-75 for a window tint violation, following too closely, and a lane change violation.
The officer reported that he smelled the odor of burnt marijuana as he approached the vehicle, and he said that Holland admitted that he had smoked illegal marijuana before the traffic stop.
A probable cause search of the vehicle reportedly produced a plastic baggie with 10 grams of marijuana and a 9mm handgun, both within reach of Holland.
Holland has a juvenile conviction from 2011, two adult felony convictions (none violent), and six adult misdemeanor convictions (none violent). He was arrested in September 2023 and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 1000 feet of a park, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on $8,000 bail shortly after his arrest; his pre-trial release conditions prohibit him from possessing alcohol or illegal drugs. Formal charges were filed in November, and the case is still working its way through the system. His bond was revoked today during a previously scheduled hearing, and new bail amounts totaling $60,000 were set by Judge Phillip Pena. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $41,000 on the new charges.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Â
Another genius whose public lawyers and judges are even more demonic 👹💩🤡
Pre-trial release be like “go for it man!” for the next arrest. Then try “I can’t breathe” if that doesn’t work.
What if it was your a$$ that couldn’t breathe?
Maybe the original bail should be subject to forfeit if they are convicted of a felony committed on pre-trial release. Let the bondsman think twice about springing people like this.
You would think that this young scholar would have learned his lesson in September 2023. He was given a light bail and given a pre trial agreement not to possess drugs or alcohol so he could concentrate on being a public example of good reform. Well guess what it didnt work. He is a drug dealer who got caught in 2023. Not a very good one but still a dope dealer. This time he has a gun to go along with his dope and felon ways.
Bruh he legit was selling weed. Is that even still considered a drug? Smh
2023 arrest had more charged then just holding weed BRUH. You dont know me so I say you are not my BRUH. And occurring to FSS weed is still illegal unless you have a card and it also illegal to sell dope within 1000 ft of a park, school or church. It is also still illegal to be in possession of a firearm or amm if you are convicted felon. Put the pipe or joint down BRUH clear your mind and wake up to reality.
For one this article is wrong. It was multiple people in the vehicle, the firearm nor drugs were on him yet he was the only person arrested 🙄
The firearm was located under the floorboard carpet near the brake pedal, and the weed was located under the kick plate panel on the driver’s side. Neither of those locations was accessible to any vehicle occupant except the driver. But you make a good point: a less reasonable officer could have arrested everyone and asked questions later. Are you suggesting the contraband belonged to someone else who let the driver take the charge? If so, you probably want to argue that in court rather than make up excuses on a website.
Den of criminal activity.
Oh no. Marijuana.
If marijuana is made legal, what’s going to happen to dealers are they going to receive unemployment benefits? What about job training? They may have a family to support.
No they would probably go to robbing weed stores weed and dispensers.
