GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Richard Bertram Johnson, Jr., 27, was arrested late last night and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly following another driver and then pointing a gun at him on Archer Road. Johnson is on probation in Flagler County on a drug possession charge.

The victim called 911 at 10:07 p.m. last night, telling the call-taker that he was being followed. The victim reportedly said that after following him for several minutes, the other driver, later identified as Johnson, pulled up behind him at the intersection of Archer Road and SW 16th Avenue, popped his trunk, removed a duffle bag from the trunk, then got back into his vehicle. The victim said the other driver then pulled up next to him and leaned out of his window with a gun in his hands. The other driver then allegedly said, “Say something stupid right now and I’ll blow you.” The victim said he was in fear for his life, so he drove off at a high rate of speed on Archer Road, running multiple red lights.

Post Miranda, Johnson reportedly said the victim passed him on the road and started “brake-checking” him. He also reportedly said the victim was reaching under his seat like he had a gun and that he acted based on the victim’s actions.

Johnson has one felony conviction and is currently on probation. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $100,000.

  • Gainesville says give this man a job in YOUR business…..because….the city commission says so!

  • Convicted felons obeying those firearm restrictions again.

  • But I thought felons weren’t allowed? Someone please explain to my tiny Dem brain how this happened … boohooooo 😭😭😭😭

  • Only in America can you be convicted in the media before all the facts are presented!!! How can you be innocent until proven guilty if the court of public opinion convict you first. Been there B4
