Man on probation arrested for firing a gun in the street
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Treyvion Sincere Murphy, 19, was arrested early this morning after allegedly firing a gun in the street in the 1800 block of Williston Road; he was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
An Alachua County Sheriff’s Office detective reported that Murphy went to the victim’s residence to hang out on November 3; Murphy is on community control (house arrest) and is not permitted to leave his residence except for a half hour before and after work or for approved special events.
The detective reported that at about 6:43 p.m., the victim and Murphy argued, and he left her residence, walked across the street, displayed a handgun, and told the victim she should not come any closer; the victim reported that he cocked the gun, causing her to retreat back into her residence. She said she heard one gunshot and called 911. Murphy reportedly left the area.
The detective was unable to find an impact from the bullet, and it was unclear whether Murphy intended to shoot the victim, but a shell casing was found in the roadway near where Murphy had been standing when he displayed and cocked the gun. The detective concluded that Murphy should be charged with aggravated assault because he intentionally displayed and cocked the gun and the victim was in fear for her safety.
Murphy reportedly sent a text message to the victim after he left, asking her not to call the police. He was arrested at a residence at about 12:51 a.m. on November 4.
Murphy has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He has a juvenile conviction in 2024 and two adult felony convictions (one violent); on June 5, 2025, Judge James Colaw sentenced him to one year of community control, followed by two years of probation after Murphy entered pleas of nolo contendere to battery by a person detained in a jail and possession of contraband (candy) in a juvenile detention facility. Judge Jonathan Ramsey set bail at $125,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

No probation again? Shocking!
It would appear this young man didn’t benefit from the equity prop Certain SBAC members were such staunch advocates for.
I would suggest they start teaching what the word “probation” means; it plays a more prominent role in some youths’ futures.
The Unicorn hair dye will go a long way in prison for the young scholar.
Wonder what his math and reading scores are?
