Man on probation arrested for possession of a concealed firearm after allegedly hiding gun in laundromat
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Kendrick Rashaed Bullard, 34, was arrested last night and charged with possession of a concealed firearm by a convicted felon and resisting an officer without violence after he allegedly hid a gun inside a laundromat while running from an officer; he was also booked for violating probation.
At about 10 p.m. on April 19, Gainesville Police Department officers responded to the area of DJ Coin Laundry (2410 SW 34th Street) after a caller reported that a black male had pointed a gun at someone in the Garden View apartment complex (2220 SW 34th Street). The caller reported that the suspect was walking southbound along SW 34th Street.
An officer saw Bullard outside DJ Coin Laundry, and he reported that Bullard ducked his head, clutched the front of his waistband, and ran into the laundromat, where he tried to hide in a small half-wall/sink area in a back corner of the business. The officer reported that Bullard did not interact with any of the machines, but while standing in the back corner, he made motions that were consistent with tossing or discarding an item; Bullard then left the laundromat, and the officer made contact with him. The officer also noted that nobody else was inside the laundromat at that time.
When the officer instructed Bullard to raise his hands, Bullard reportedly said, “I don’t got nothing.” The officer told him to get on the ground, and he dropped to his knees, but when the officer approached to handcuff him, he allegedly stood up as if he were going to run and said, “I don’t got nothing, bro.” After the officer handcuffed Bullard, he allegedly tried again to stand up and pull away from the officer.
The officer reported finding a Sig Sauer P365 9mm handgun in a black holster behind the half-wall inside the laundromat.
Post Miranda, Bullard reportedly said the gun was not his; he said he had not held any firearms, and his fingerprints and DNA would not be found on the gun. He reportedly admitted to running inside the laundromat and said he discarded a “medicinal” marijuana “blunt” because he was scared and knew he was on probation. He reportedly denied throwing the gun behind the half-wall.
The officer reported that he was unable to find a marijuana blunt in the area where Bullard had been standing.
Bullard has been charged with possession of a concealed firearm by a convicted felon, resisting an officer without violence, and violating probation. He has three felony convictions (non-violent) and six misdemeanor convictions (one violent); in September 2025, he was sentenced to two years of probation in two different cases, after serving 180 days in jail. Judge Joy Danne ordered him held without bail until the probation violation is resolved, and she set bail at $25,000 on the new charges.
