Man on probation arrested for pulling a gun on a woman in March
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – David Peoples III, 27, has been arrested for pulling a gun on a woman during a March incident in Lincoln Estates.
A Gainesville Police Department officer reported that at about 8 p.m. on March 2, the victim was outside a residence in the 1700 block of SE 13th Place when she saw a physical fight down the street and walked over to break it up. She said that when she grabbed Peoples to pull him away from the fight, he pulled a black handgun and pointed it at her face before getting into the passenger seat of a silver Mazda sedan. She said she was afraid for her life when she saw the gun.
The officer reported that a cell phone video of the silver sedan showed the tag number, and a person at the scene sent an Alachua County booking photo of Peoples. The officer also employed facial recognition software to identify the suspect as Peoples, and the result matched the booking photo. The officer reported that the distinct “352” neck tattoo helped to identify the suspect.
A witness reportedly said he had been standing in his yard when he heard an argument down the street and saw a male reach into his pocket; he said he heard the word “gun” and went back to his residence.
Peoples has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He has three felony convictions (one violent) and two misdemeanor convictions (non-violent) and is currently on probation after serving a 120-day jail sentence for domestic battery by strangulation. Judge George Wright ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold him without bail until trial. On May 4, Judge Robert Groeb granted the motion and ordered People held without bail until trial.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Another scholar on the street. Im sure there is some legitimate reason for him to have a gun as a convicted felon.
Betcha he’s SO happy he got that 352 neck tattoo now! 😄
We are shown many arrested people here. Maybe some (if easily obtained) follow up on dropped cases pleas and sentences, as well as innocent findings posted as well?
Are you donating enough to pay for another employee? I already cover a beat significantly larger than any other local reporter. There’s always more that could be done but not enough time or resources to do more.
Since I don’t use PayPal etc, if you would give me an address, I would be happy to drive to Alachua and hand you cash check or etc. Use my email, which you have.
Our PO Box is listed on the website. And while we gratefully accept donations in any amount, we would need ongoing additional funding in the tens of thousands to hire somebody. The task is not simple.
