Man on probation arrested for ramming police car

Lonnie Gerquaun Washington, 21, was arrested yesterday on a warrant for an April 1 incident in which he allegedly backed his car into a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) patrol car, injuring an officer.
According to the arrest report, a GPD car pulled in front of Washington’s car, and Washington allegedly deliberately backed up into another occupied patrol car, causing a back injury to the officer in the car. Washington allegedly drove away, then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Washington is on probation following a plea deal in December 2021 that resulted in 90 days in jail and 4 years of probation from two 2021 cases. In one case, he pled guilty/nolo contendere to pointing a gun at a woman and threatening to shoot her; in the other, he pled to stealing a car and unlawful use of a communication device.
Washington had another warrant for his arrest from a March incident in which he allegedly committed domestic battery and stole the victim’s mother’s car. He is being held without bond for violating probation in the two 2021 cases, and the bond for the current case is $80,000.
