Man on probation arrested on campus for possession of a stolen firearm and other charges
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jeromah Reshawd Garner, 35, was arrested early this morning after his rental Cybertruck was stopped on campus and officers reportedly found a stolen firearm and marijuana.
At about 1:15 a.m. on May 24, a University of Florida Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop on a Cybertruck on Buckman Drive because the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
The officer learned that the driver, identified as Garner, had a suspended license, and Garner reportedly admitted that he knew it had been suspended because he had been stopped a few hours earlier by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Post Miranda, Garner reportedly said there was nothing in the vehicle that officers needed to know about.
The officer reported that the Cybertruck was rented and the tag did not show up in law enforcement databases, so Garner was asked for the VIN number. Garner reportedly gave an officer the vehicle’s key, which showed the VIN number, but the VIN number also did not show up in law enforcement databases. When an officer walked Garner over to the vehicle, he reportedly saw a firearm in the driver’s side door; a query of the firearm’s serial number revealed that it had been stolen in Alachua County.
A search of Garner’s vehicle reportedly produced about six grams of marijuana.
Garner has been charged with grand theft of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, unlawfully concealing a firearm, and knowingly driving with a license suspended with previous convictions for driving without a license. Garner has five local misdemeanor convictions (non-violent) and at least four felonies for unlawful concealed carry and distributing drugs; he is on probation until 2034. Judge Luis Bustamante set bail at $12,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Some people just want to go back to prison. They will never tell you that directly, but they do.
You a dumb a** idiot he has never been to prison or been convicted of a felony ! Possessing a gun for your own protection isn’t a crime! Possessing weed isn’t a crime either ! So stfu when you don’t know what you’re talking about!
Felon = illegal to possess firearms.
You’re welcome for this education.
Both are crimes. It is always a crime to possess a stolen ‘anything’, especially a firearm. It is always a crime for a felon to possess a firearm, and believe it or not, weed is not legal in the state of Florida. It is also illegal to drive without a seat-belt or a valid license.
The article reports four previous felony convictions, including illegal concealed carry and driving with suspended DL. BTW, possession by a convicted felon IS a crime. Be polite.
You better re-read the article JB and by the way, you have to register your gun and get a permit which, he didn’t have. I find it highly ironic that you call someone else a dumb a$$ LOL.
“Garner has five local misdemeanor convictions (non-violent) and at least four felonies for unlawful concealed carry and distributing drugs; he is on probation until 2034.”
Did you not know since a year ago you don’t need a permit to posses a gun lol you only need to register the gun idiot
Unfortunely you may be the idiot. He is on probation. One of the big probation rules are not being in possession if weapons ie firearms, second, no unlawful possession or use of drugs. Possession of a stolen firearm is a crime. And knowingly operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license especially admitting he was stopped earlier by FHP who definitely prove he knew. I’m sure VOP charges will follow shortly with this Rocket Scientist.
When has he ever been to prison ? Are you a rocket scientist? 1+1=2 right?
Bustamonte needs to go, please write to DeSantis. Scummy judges and lawyers were grooming this perp so he’d commit a mass shooting on campus, so they’d get on Court TV someday. Quote “Garner has five local misdemeanor convictions (non-violent) and at least four felonies for unlawful concealed carry and distributing drugs; he is on probation until 2034. Judge Luis Bustamante set bail at $12,000.”
ACLUSPLCDNC 🤡👺👿👹💩
Perp is 35 and thought he’d be admitted to UF — but DEI has been replaced with MAGA merit 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Who ‘rented’ him a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license? Seems like when one types that data in an alert should be rendered.
There is some confusion. The tag and VIN came back unknown (?)
An alert is rentered when your license is suspended but did you maybe think the rental car wasn’t his and maybe he was borrowing it ! Lol do you guys have any common sense
12 grand? Jeeze.
Convicted felon for previous gun crime, previous conviction for driving w/o license and on parole. When will Judge Bustmyass treat gun crimes and probation violations seriously? Why does he have a physical DL when it is supposedly suspended? What about the “rental” Cybertruck with VIN and tag not in the ‘puter? Where are the gun charges? Way too many questions about this one.
JB, carrying a stolen gun is highly illegal. So you shut the f up.
Having a gun probably made him feel like big man on campus.
He was never on campus he was on university passing through they made him pull on campus dummy
How about starting with revoking the probation, returning him to prison to finish the original sentence, then try him on the new charges.
Their was never a original sentence lol
