Updated: Man shot at Days Inn on SW 13th Street

On July 13, 2020 at 8:09 p.m., Gainesville Police Department officers responded to the Days Inn located at 1901 SW 13th Street to reports of gunshots being fired. Upon arrival, GPD officers located a male victim, Kurry Jackson, 37, that had been shot multiple times inside his room. Officers began rendering immediate life saving aid until EMS personnel arrived. Mr. Jackson was transported to UF Health-SHANDS, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Further investigation indicated that a tall, slender, black male, wearing a black hat was seen shooting into the victim’s room from outside of the room and then fleeing to an area where multiple cars were parked. The suspect’s direction of travel is currently undetermined, and detectives are investigating leads.
