Manhunt in Alachua/High Springs area Saturday night failed to locate suspects who fled from an FHP Trooper

Staff report

ALACHUA, Fla. – A heavy police presence was reported in areas of Alachua and High Springs on Saturday evening after two suspects abandoned their car at the 402 mile marker of I-75.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) spokesman, a trooper attempted a traffic stop in White Springs on a 2023 silver Dodge Challenger at about 6:45 p.m. on May 18 for improper window tint. The trooper reported that the vehicle was occupied by two black males.

The driver fled the traffic stop, driving southbound on I-75 through Columbia County and into Alachua County. The car was found abandoned by another trooper near the 402 mile marker, between the Alachua and High Springs exits.

At around 7:45 p.m., local agencies assisted FHP in setting up a perimeter along I-75, CR 236, CR 241, and CR 235A, but no suspects were located after two different K-9 searches.

  • I wonder how the trooper knew they were black if they had illegal tint? It didn’t say they seen them running from the car. They found the abandoned vehicle. Stereotyping. Maybe I missed something.

    • I have no tint on my front windows but tint on my back windows that I got pulled over for.

        • Question: “I wonder how the trooper knew they were black if they had illegal tint?”

Answer: “I have no tint on my front windows but tint on my back windows that I got pulled over for.”

Point: An officer can pull you over for tint but that doesn’t mean they can’t see you.

      • If you can’t read just say that it clearly says challenger 🤣🤣🤣🤣

  • Let’s hear about the car. Stolen? Likely
What was found? Guns? Drugs? Likely
Who was in it? Felons? Likely
I’m sure they were good boys… not likely.

  • they were on their way home from sunday school give them a break
