Men who say they met on Grindr arrested for burglary and property damage

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Khloe Cathryn Davis, 22, and Troy Allen Gignac, 37, were arrested yesterday after the manager of a vacant Holly Heights apartment reported that a window was open and asked for the apartment to be cleared by law enforcement.

Multiple Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded and gave announcements for anyone inside the apartment to come out. After three announcements were made, Davis and Gignac reportedly came down the stairs and out the front door. Deputies detained both men; Gignac reportedly said he had a pipe on him, and when he was asked whether it was a meth or crack pipe, he said it was a meth pipe.

Deputies did a protective sweep of the apartment and found no other occupants. The search reportedly produced two marijuana blunts, about 0.30 grams of cocaine, and about 0.78 grams of methamphetamines.

The maintenance manager reportedly estimated the damage at over $2,000, including two broken sliding glass doors, a broken lock and security bar on one door, two broken window balancers, and damage to a ceiling fan, stair banister, and blinds.

Post Miranda, Davis reportedly said he had smoked “molly” earlier in the day but didn’t have any other drugs on him. He reportedly said that he and Gignac had been in the apartment for about an hour after meeting on Grindr.

Post Miranda, Gignac reportedly said he had just met Davis on an app, that Davis had given him the address of the apartment, and that they had met there about an hour before deputies responded. Gignac reportedly said they entered through an open back door and that they had been upstairs hanging out and smoking the marijuana blunts. He said the pipe belonged to Davis and that he had picked it up on the way out of the apartment, but he was unaware of any other drugs in the apartment.

Both defendants have been charged with burglary, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, property damage over $1,000, cocaine possession, and methamphetamine possession. Gignac was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Davis has nine misdemeanor convictions (one violent) and four felony convictions (four violent). Judge David Kreider set bail at $21,000.

Gignac is on pre-trial release for a felony case in Bradford County and was reportedly wearing an ankle monitor; he has no criminal convictions. Judge David Kreider set bail at $95,000.

  • How lovely to know that Grindr is used by repeat ex-cons for illegal roommate matching! 🤡👹👿💩👺ACLUSPLCDNC

  • Wow! 🤦‍♂️ Hope they got to have xes before being interrupted. 🤷‍♂️ lol

  • A true example of what is wrong with society and what Wokeness h ad created.

    • It’s a wonder the idiotic city commission led by Ward doesn’t pass an ordinance requiring non-rented apartments to be provided free to those with nowhere to stay in order to solve the homeless crisis.

    • hate to break it to you but this has nothing to do with wokeness and 99% of the crimes reported on this site are committed by straight ppl

      • It has all to to with wokeness. Given the light bail, even lighter prison sentences, and ridiculous probation. Thinking that people are going to adhere to court orders in this county and not get arrested again and again. That is living in a woke fantasy land. Explain why all these criminals are coming from all over the tri county, and tri state area to little ole Alachua County and Gainesville. Its not for the law and order. I never eluded to these two males preferences you did. If they want to play hide the tummy sticks together fine they can do it legally in their own homes or a motel room till their hearts are content. I am speaking of them being criminals and meeting each other to commit crime on social media and the ridiculous rise in out of town criminals coming here.

  • “Men who say they met on Grindr” but one is identified as “Khloe Cathryn?”

    🤣😭😱🤐

Anyone wondering what’s wrong in the world needs to stop.

    • One is likely a very popular trans in jail and homeless areas. He, aaaah I mean “She” identified as female not jest dis moanin but last Wednesday week!

  • Ah yes Holly Heights (Lows?). Section 8 nirvana. Don’t be caught there after dark.

    • that’s so much more egregious than the crimes these two committed but ofc people are more concerned with the gender/sexuality of these two rather than the fact that this city has a legitimate housing crisis despite more and more luxury student housing popping up every year

    • Wonder why people don’t want to live there? Aren’t they affordable?

  • This will probably generate a snicker or two in Bradford County. I’m picturing an episode of Mama’s Family with all the women at the dinner table asking Bubba what Grindr is.
