Micanopy’s first Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration will start with a march at 10 a.m.

Press release from Willie Mae Stokes Community Center

MICANOPY, Fla. – The Willie Mae Stokes Community Center in Micanopy will host Micanopy’s first Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.

The day kicks off with a celebratory march, starting at The Willie Mae Stokes Community Center (355 NW 6th Ave, Micanopy, FL 32667) at 10 a.m. We’ll gather for a group photo at the Community Center and then start our meaningful journey toward building our greater community.

The program begins at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Center. We’re excited to have the Honorable Charles “Chuck” Chestnut IV, Alachua County Board of County Commissioners, as our keynote speaker. His remarkable achievements and dedication to our community make him an inspiring voice for our time.

Charles Chestnut has served our community as the leader of the NAACP, in City and County Government, and at the State Level of Government.

Join us for food, beverages, and a meaningful celebration of unity and progress.

Let’s march together, reflect, and celebrate the strides we’ve made and the work yet to be done. See you there!

  • Here come two months of virtue signalling by the party of slavery, Jim Crow and the KKK. Sad that there is no substance to the Democrat posturing; just continuing divergence of society since Democrat President LBJ’s Great Society and its great giveaway.

  • Haven’t heard about the first Chief Micanopy celebration. Any word on that yet?
