Mom previously arrested for child abuse adds drug trafficking charges

BY JENNIFER CABRERA

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jessica Jean Flones, 39, who was arrested on child abuse charges three days ago, has now been charged with eleven additional felonies and a misdemeanor for drug trafficking and possession of weapons and ammunition by a convicted felon.

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed a search warrant at Flones’ apartment following her June 28 arrest, and detectives reportedly found several containers on the kitchen table that contained 74.4 grams of marijuana, 44 grams combined of crack cocaine and powder cocaine, 204.5 grams of fentanyl, 218.8 grams of synthetic cathinone, and 154.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine. A digital scale and multiple plastic bags were also on the table.

Detectives also reported finding a loaded handgun on the table, with another loaded handgun on a shelf adjacent to the table. The June 28 arrest report noted that the handgun and drugs on the kitchen table were easily accessible to the children in the residence. In other areas of the apartment, detectives reported finding 5.56 ammunition (commonly used in AR-15-style rifles) and also handgun magazines that didn’t fit the two handguns that were found.

Detectives reported finding 1814.37 grams (approximately four pounds) of synthetic cathinone in the master bedroom closet, and another 52 grams of synthetic cathinone were found in a dresser.

Detectives reported that the apartment and utilities are in Flones’ name, and all of the clothes and other items found in the master bedroom appeared to belong to Flones. The report notes that her rental agreement for the Majestic Oaks apartment indicates that she pays $72 per month for rent.

On top of the previous three counts of child abuse, Flones has been charged with trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in methamphetamine, trafficking in phenethylamines, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug equipment, maintaining a structure for the purpose of drug activity, and five counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon. She is being held on $3,815,000 bail.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • $3,815,000 bail. Is that an Alachua County 2022 all-time high?

Affordable Housing Fronting Something Evil Stunting?

      • You got it! She paid $72/mo for rent. Taxpayers footed the bill for her drug haven….that’s your affordable housing which is government assisted section 8…they want to load up our single
Family neighborhoods with multiplexes that will house trash like her and drug dealing and people coming in & out at all times. Save our homesteads
And single family neighborhoods. I invested in a single family neighborhood so I wouldn’t have to
Put up with crap like this.

    • She has previously appeared before Phil Pena,as when she started her criminal activity here in Gville back in 2015. He is notoriously soft on crime and should have been replaced long ago, imo. We can thank him for many of the repeat offenders that harm our citizens.

    • If Dan Weisman were judge we would start seeing real sentences which means safer streets. He is the one that will finally begin to put a stop to this mess.
