Morningside Nature Center Farm Area upgrades are finished, Cane Boil and Fiddle Fest to be held on Nov. 22

Press release from the City of Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The City of Gainesville’s Wild Spaces & Public Places program and the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department are pleased to announce the completion of improvements at Morningside Nature Center’s Living History Farm.

The project brings important updates to one of Gainesville’s most cherished natural destinations. Enhancements include new livestock pens, lean-to structures, a dedicated grazing area, and utility upgrades designed to improve animal care, support daily operations, and enhance the visitor experience.

Construction began in June 2025 and was completed in November 2025. The work was performed by ESB Light, LLC at a total cost of $137,000, funded through the Wild Spaces & Public Places half-cent sales tax.

These upgrades arrive just in time for one of the Nature Center’s most beloved traditions. This Saturday, Nov. 22, Morningside Nature Center will host its annual Cane Boil and Fiddle Fest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors can explore the newly completed improvements while enjoying live music, demonstrations, and family-friendly activities.
