Motel guest arrested for threatening housekeeper with shotgun

ALACHUA, Fla. – George Laguria Jackson, 65, of Lithonia, Ga., was arrested yesterday morning and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and firing a weapon in public after allegedly threatening a motel housekeeper with a shotgun on Monday night and firing it into the air on Tuesday morning.
Jackson was a guest at the Travelodge Motel in Alachua; at about 8:30 p.m. on July 31, a housekeeper reported that while she was standing outside his door, he looked at her with a shotgun in his hand and said, “You better run.” She said she fled, in fear for her life.
At about 10 a.m. on August 1, Jackson reportedly fired the shotgun into the air; he reportedly said he fired it because he was frustrated. A shotgun shell was reportedly found at the scene, and witnesses reportedly said they were in fear for their lives.
Jackson has criminal convictions in Alabama between the years of 1988 and 2022; Judge Walter Green set bail at $25,000.
