Mother arrested after toddler became intoxicated while unsupervised

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Voynara Ashely Barcelo, 32, was arrested early this morning after allegedly leaving her 2-year-old unsupervised with access to alcohol; the toddler was transported to the hospital after drinking “an intoxicating amount of alcohol.”
At about 3 p.m. on March 1, Barcelo allegedly left the child at home for about an hour while she went to the child’s father’s residence, and during that time, the child reportedly “got into [Barcelo’s] liquor cup.”
The toddler was reportedly “not responsive” and “falling over,” and an ambulance was called. EMS personnel reportedly said the toddler’s breath smelled like alcohol, and the toddler was transported to the hospital.
A witness reportedly said that Barcelo was “intoxicated real bad” when she returned to her residence.
Post Miranda, Barcelo reportedly said she had gone to the child’s father’s house and didn’t know the toddler had ingested alcohol. She reportedly said she keeps alcohol at her home and the toddler can open the refrigerator. She said she didn’t know when the toddler drank the alcohol.
Barcelo has been charged with child neglect without great bodily harm. She has one traffic misdemeanor conviction, and she has been released from the jail.

I see a couple problems with this:
1. The mother left the child to go to the child’s father’s residence.
2. Father apparently doesn’t have much to do in the raising of the child.
3. Mom left alcohol within reach/access of the 2-year old.
Maybe she could call Prizzia to babysit next time.
And…. if the mom went to dad’s house, how come the baby wasn’t with mom and dad? Just a simple question.
Leaving your 2 year alone and unsupervised, leaving alcohol in easy reach in her “alcohol cup”. Sounds like mother of the year material to me or positive life experience for c a city ambassador position. Some people should never have childern.
This is as bad as the couple, that infant tested positive for Fentanyl?? These are some grand parents!!
