Newberry man arrested for child abuse after allegedly kicking child at park
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Morgan Simeon Prows, 37, of Newberry, was arrested yesterday and charged with child abuse after witnesses reported that he repeatedly kicked a child at Westside Park.
At about 6:04 p.m. on January 10, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to Albert ‘Ray’ Massey (Westside) Park (1001 NW 34th Street), where witnesses said Prows had repeatedly kicked a child who was on the ground; the officer reported that Prows prevented the child from standing up by “maliciously and aggressively” kicking the child to keep him on the ground. Four witnesses reportedly said Prows’s actions were not those of a reasonable parent, and they said he was yelling at the child to stop calling him “bro” while standing over him.
The officer reported that after kicking the child, Prows told the child to sit on a piece of playground equipment, and the witnesses heard him say that people were going to call the police and the Department of Children and Families because of the child.
Post Miranda, Prows reportedly denied hitting or kicking the victim and said he had not physically disciplined the victim in several years.
Prows has two local felony convictions (non-violent) and one local misdemeanor conviction (non-violent); he has served one state prison sentence and was released in 2009. Judge Donna Keim set bail at $10,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Convicts love people who abuse children. I’m sure they’ll be punting him around the yard a couple times – he deserves it.
Springs county strikes again.
I think it’s amusing how you are quick to point out an instance that occurs outside of the gainesville area but yet 90% of the weekly arrests are within the confines of the Gainesville area. Typical woke crying Liptard.
No the crime was committed in Gainesville by somebody from the future springs county you just can’t stand when it’s pointed out to you it’s one of yours. another reichwing nut job hell I’m surprised they even wrote a story about it in the AC
What an incredibly arrogant, condescending comment directed at people outside of Gainesville. There is no call for such a juvenile statement.
Says the guy who makes arrogant condescending cartoons
For all the 👎🏻 peeps; let him babysit your child.
He looks like he smells like cigarettes and armpits.
The “bros” at County Lockup are gping to love this boy!
I am wondering if DCF will apply pressure to him, and asked the child other parent to allow DCF to locate a better home for the child??
He needs to receive a ‘blanket party’ reception from his fellow inmates.
