Newberry man wins Davis Chevrolet Grand Slam Giveaway

Press release from Davis Chevrolet

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On a cool Tuesday night in Condron Family Ballpark, the Gators delivered in the grandest of ways.

In the 4th inning, with the bases full of Gators, second baseman Cade Kurland stepped into the batter’s box and looked out at the FSU pitcher dressed head to toe in garnet. With one swing, he drove home four runs, and Zack Leggett was driving home in a 2024 Chevy Trax, courtesy of Davis Chevrolet.

Davis Chevy, as part of their long-standing relationship with Gators Sports Properties Learfield (the Gators’ multimedia rights-holder that solely represents the University Athletic Association and all corporate sponsorships), promised to give away a brand new car if the Gators baseball team hit a grand slam in the 4th inning of any home game or any inning during the match-up with the rivals from that school out west. Fans were invited to sign up at www.floridagators.com/davis to enter the drawing to become the Davis Chevrolet Grand Slam Fan of the Game. You didn’t need to be present to win, and when the bases were loaded and power-hitting Kurland came up to bat, the winner, Zack Leggett of Newberry, was working from home. However, his wife, Alex, was in the ballpark, scorebook in hand. The question remains, however, how do you score a car-winning grand slam?

Davis Chevy, located on N. Main St. in Gainesville, is a proud partner of the Florida Gators. This season, they expanded their promotion to include a grand slam in the 4th inning of any Gators home baseball or softball game. With the meat of both seasons still in front of them, they look to see if a second Trax will be awarded to a Gator fan.

Davis has been a proud supporter of Gators athletics for years and uses the opportunity to meet and interact with fans at all Gators games. The Gators and Davis Chevy have used the partnership to give fans on-field experiences and to bring 100s of kids from around Alachua County to Gator games through the Davis Cares arm of their community outreach program.

The Gators baseball team ultimately lost to the Seminoles last night, but between the grand slam and Ty Evans’ inside-the-park two-run home run in the 9th inning, there were plenty of fireworks for fans who came out to cheer on the Orange & Blue, proving once again that there’s never a bad day at the ballpark!

The Florida Gators (10-6) take on the Texas A&M Aggies (17-0) in the first series of the SEC season this weekend. Tickets are still available at www.floridagators.com. Davis Chevy will be set up outside the front gates, meeting fans and giving them the opportunity to win Gators-branded swag.
