Newberry to unveil Veterans Memorial with special Memorial Day ribbon-cutting ceremony

NEWBERRY, Fla. – The City of Newberry is proud to invite the entire community to a powerful and patriotic celebration this Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, at 9:30 a.m. at Lois Forte Park, as we officially unveil the new Veterans Memorial with a ribbon-cutting ceremony you won’t want to miss!
This extraordinary memorial, built with over 430 personalized bricks, stands as a lasting tribute to the local heroes who’ve served our country with honor and sacrifice. The program will feature:
- Remarks from City Manager Jordan Marlowe, Mayor Tim Marden, Commissioner Mark Clark, and former state Representative Debbie Boyd
- Stirring performances by the Oak View Middle School Symphonic Band and the Newberry High School Band
- A heartfelt musical selection by Josh Taylor
- A presentation of the colors by the Newberry American Legion Post 149 Color Guard
- A special appearance by Rolling Thunder Chapter 3, honoring POW/MIA and veteran advocacy
This is more than just a ceremony—it’s a moment of unity, pride, and gratitude.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for seating and arrive early to grab a great spot. Join us as we make history in Newberry and show our veterans the support they so deeply deserve! Guests will also have the opportunity to order personalized bricks during the event, adding to the growing memorial that honors generations of service.
