Newberry Volleyball wins Regional Championship 3-2 over Williston

NEWBERRY, Fla. – The Newberry Panthers are headed to the State Championships in Winter Haven after winning their Regional Championship in Girls Volleyball.

Newberry lost the first set 25-16 but bounced back in the second set to win 25-21. Newberry won the third set 25-21, but Williston High School wouldn’t go out that easily and fought back to take the fourth set 25-19 and force a fifth set.

The Panthers and Devils traded punches, and the score was tied at 12. After a controversial call, Williston went up 13-12, but the Panthers fought back and Williston called a timeout at 14-13 Panthers. Chloe Jones stepped up and served an ace to win the match.

The State Championships will be held Nov. 6-11 at Polk State College.
