Newberry woman killed after being hit by a car on Newberry Road in Jonesville

NEWBERRY, Fla. – A 42-year-old Newberry woman was killed last night after she got out of a stopped vehicle and was hit by another vehicle on Newberry Road in the Jonesville area.
According to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol, at about 10:05 p.m., the Newberry woman was driving an SUV westbound on Newberry Road in the area of NW 154th Street when her vehicle stopped in the roadway. For reasons that are under investigation, the woman got out of the vehicle, was hit by a sedan driven by a 34-year-old Newberry woman, and was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the sedan, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Perhaps she was giving money to a homeless person in the street.
